New Parent Tips

Care for You and Your Baby

Life has changed now that your new baby is here. But our care doesn’t stop when you and your baby leave the hospital. We’re here for you throughout every stage of your life. We offer many services and resources to support this big change. And we have tips to help you feel confident in caring for your new baby and yourself.

Finding the Right Pediatrician

Choosing the right pediatrician for your baby is one of the first decisions you’ll make as a new parent. Your pediatrician will want to see your new baby a few days after birth. So it pays to plan ahead.

Ask yourself what your priorities are when looking for a new doctor. You may also want to ask friends, family members, our maternity nurse navigator or your OBGYN for their recommendations.

Baby Blues: Perinatal and Postpartum Depression

If you’re feeling sad, anxious or not like yourself now that your baby is home with you, know you’re not alone. It’s common for new parents to feel emotional changes after having a baby. Baby blues are feelings of sadness or moodiness that are mild and usually go away by themselves within the first few days or weeks of giving birth. If your feelings are more intense or don’t go away within two weeks of giving birth, contact your doctor right away. Perinatal depression is treatable and doesn’t have to get in the way of you enjoying being a new parent.

Breastfeeding Support

We offer onsite lactation resources if you choose to breastfeed. Our board-certified lactation consultants provide education and support, before delivery, while you are in the hospital and after you go home, including private consultations and consultations over the phone. You can also rent or buy breast pumps and breastfeeding supplies through our lactation center.

Your Baby’s First Few Weeks

In the first weeks and months of your baby’s life, you’ll have to make countless decisions about their health and well-being. You might also be receiving more advice than you ever have before.

You may have used our Baby Bundle app during your pregnancy. But did you know you can keep using the app after you’ve given birth?

Here’s what you can find on the Baby Bundle app YoMingo® after you bring your baby home:
