Initial Evaluation

Most patients at the Sleep Medicine and Research Center have an initial evaluation with a sleep specialist.

During your initial evaluation at the Sleep Medicine and Research Center, your sleep specialist will obtain a detailed history of your sleep habits and symptoms as well as a complete medical history, and you will undergo a physical exam. Your spouse or bed partner or a close family member is encouraged to attend if possible to relay important observations to the physician.

Your sleep specialist will discuss treatment options and recommendations for testing with you. If appropriate, you may be asked to schedule a polysomnogram, also known as a sleep study.

You may also return to the Sleep Medicine and Research Center for follow-up visits to allow your sleep specialist to provide and assess ongoing treatments and give additional recommendations.
