Are You at Risk for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms related to pelvic floor dysfunction, make an appointment with a pelvic floor therapist.
- Leakage of urine when coughing, sneezing, walking, running or heavy lifting
- Changes in posture (lying down to sitting and/or sitting to standing)
- Sudden urge to empty your bladder
- Urine leakage on the way to the bathroom
- Wearing pads or pantyliners to manage a urine leakage problem
- Emptying bladder more frequently than every two to three hours daily
- Emptying bladder more than one time nightly
- Suffering from frequent urinary tract infections
- Experiencing pelvic heaviness or feeling as if pelvic organs are falling out
- The feeling of something bulging through the vaginal opening
- Sex has become more difficult or painful
- Experiencing leakage of gas, liquid stool or solid stool
- Wearing pads or pantiliners to manage a stool leakage problem
- Frequently straining to pass a bowel movement
- Frequently press vaginally or around the anal area to help with passing a bowel movement
