Get Control of Your Diabetes

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 30.3 million people have diabetes in the United States, including both diagnosed and undiagnosed cases. Diabetes is a chronic disease in which the body's insulin cannot regulate the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Diabetes can be caused by too little insulin, resistance to insulin or both. In addition, about two thirds of people with diabetes have poorly control blood glucose, according to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Uncontrolled blood glucose results in a harmful effect on most of the organ systems in the body and significantly increases the risk of diabetes complications such as:

  • Eye problems
  • Nerve damage
  • Frequent infections
  • Kidney disease
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Depression
  • Sleep disorders
  • Oral infections
