St. Luke's Hospital Volunteer Program

College Student Program

Thank you for your interest in St. Luke's Hospital College Student Volunteer Program. This program is designed for current traditional college students (not for dually enrolled high school and college students) who seek exposure to the healthcare field while serving the patients, visitors, and staff of St. Luke's Hospital. Assignments will be based on each student's availability and the needs of the hospital but shift times and days of the week are set.
  • The program operates Monday through Friday only; morning shifts are 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; afternoon shifts are 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
  • Each semester is 14 weeks in length (September to December and January to April); successful fall semester students will be offered the option to return for the spring semester.
  • The minimum commitment per semester is 48 service hours.
  • Applicants must provide proof of a current flu shot (or agree to receive a flu shot).
  • Successful applicants will go through an onsite volunteer screening that includes a urine drug screen, blood draw, and criminal record check (social security number is required) prior to starting service.
  • Applications dates are as follows:
    • Fall Semester: August 1 through August 15
    • Spring Semester: December 1 through December 15
