Trusted Stroke Treatment for the St. Louis Community

As a Designated Stroke Center by the state of Missouri and with certification as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, St. Luke's Hospital and its experienced stroke team are trusted experts for strokes and stroke-related complications in the St. Louis area. 


"Time is Brain" therefore it is important that you or a loved one receive treatment at the closest Designated Stroke Center as it is your right to make your hospital preference known - like St. Luke's Hospital. If you or a loved one believe you're suffering from symptoms of a stroke, remember to B.E. F.A.S.T. and call 911.

BALANCE: Is there a loss of balance? Does the person have a headache? Is the person walking differently?
EYES: Does the person have blurred vision? Can they see out of both eyes okay?
FACE: Ask the person to smile. Does their face look uneven?
ARMS: Ask them to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
SPEECH: Ask them to repeat a simple phrase. Does their speech sound strange?
TIME: If the person shows any of these symptoms, call for help fast.


Warning signs of stroke:

  • Sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg, most often on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
