Providing innovative cancer treatments and a new dimension of cancer care
Center for Cancer Care: Patient Support
Cancer Education and Patient Support
Prior to beginning cancer treatment, the patient will meet with a nurse practitioner to discuss the specifics of the planned chemotherapy regimen, potential side effects of treatment, frequency of office visits and lab testing and symptom management. The nurse practitioner will also provide the patient with written educational materials, offer resources for patient support, and obtain consent from the patient to proceed with treatment. Throughout treatment, the nurse practitioner is a valuable resource for patients, assisting the physician in providing routine and urgent care, symptom management and emotional support.
