Andrew Spitzfaden, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Woods Mill Orthopedics. Dr. Spitzfaden was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from St. Louis Country Day School in 1992. He received his bachelor of arts degree in biology from Miami University in Ohio in 1996, and he graduated from University of Missouri – Columbia Medical School in 2000. He completed his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Saint Louis University Hospital in 2005 and then entered private practice. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the St. Louis Orthopedic Society.

Dr. Spitzfaden’s practice interests encompass sports medicine and joint reconstruction, along with other common general orthopedic conditions. He enjoys knee and shoulder arthroscopic procedures including rotator cuff repair, labral repair, SLAP repair, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair and articular cartilage surgery. He also enjoys both hip and knee joint replacement surgery. He treats fractures of both the upper and lower extremities and continues to enjoy this exciting part of his practice.

Dr. Spitzfaden strongly believes in educating his patients on both the nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for their orthopedic conditions so they can make informed decisions regarding their care. He welcomes and encourages patient questions about their treatment plan, while providing ample time during the office visit for discussion.
