Migraine Solution: Sarah's Story
December 04, 2020
Migraines can affect every aspect of your life. For Sarah, a mom of two, they were debilitating. She experienced 15-18 migraine days a month. “I had no quality of life,” she said. “I literally was in bed once the migraine hit.”
Head pounding, throbbing and visual black spots – these were all symptoms she experienced. When the symptoms came on, she couldn’t drive, do chores or help her kids get ready for school. “I always had to have somebody on back-up,” she said.
After many failed attempts at treatment, Sarah decided to try a new approach with the help of Whitney Feichtner, a nurse practitioner with St. Luke’s Brain & Spine Center. During their first meeting, they discussed the medications and treatments Sarah had tried. Whitney let her know she was a candidate for receiving Botox injections as a treatment option. In the first month, her headaches decreased by 30-40 percent. And in less than a year of receiving Botox, she now has some months where she doesn’t even have one migraine.
“My kids are happy because they have their momma back,” she said
“St. Luke’s goes out of their way to ensure patient satisfaction,” she said. “Care, compassion, kindness, empathy, it’s hard to find that anymore these days. You don’t feel like you’re just another person or number. They actually do care about you. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I’m so thankful to St. Luke’s and this practice for it. They’ve been a lifesaver for me."
