Chesterfield, Mo., November 21, 2016 - St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital has earned a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, the highest level awarded.

The physical rehabilitation hospital is now CARF accredited not only for its inpatient rehabilitation program but also for its stroke specialty program. These programs are designed to provide expert and compassionate care and education through the physical rehabilitation and stroke recovery process.

"These achievements reflect St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital's commitment to improving the quality of life for our patients," said Chris Baechle, St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital chief executive officer. "The CARF accreditation standards are rooted in our daily delivery of patient-focused care."

The accreditation report commended St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital in several areas, including: creative program strategies; cultural diversity program; and involved and accessible executive leadership.

To meet CARF's accreditation standards, St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital underwent a rigorous peer review evaluation focused on such areas as quality, infection control, risk management and referral sources.

St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital is a joint venture between St. Luke's Hospital and Kindred Healthcare. Located three miles west of St. Luke's Hospital on the campus of St. Luke's Surrey Place, the 35-bed, nearly 30,000-square-foot rehabilitation hospital provides a full range of programs designed to maximize the abilities of patients with a wide range of severe injuries and illnesses.
