St. Luke's Hospital Achieves 2015 Outstanding Patient Experience Award
The Healthgrades honor places St. Luke's among the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide for providing a superior patient experience.
Chesterfield, Mo., April 7, 2015
- St. Luke's Hospital is a recipient of the Healthgrades 2015 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. This distinction places St. Luke's among the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide based on an analysis of patient satisfaction data. This is the fifth year in a row (2011-2015) that St. Luke's has received this award.
To determine its 2015 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients, Healthgrades evaluated the 3,575 hospitals that submitted patient surveys from admissions in 2013 to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Hospitals had to meet survey response size and clinical quality thresholds in order to be eligible for the award.
"Our entire healthcare team is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for each patient," said Diane Ray, St. Luke's Hospital vice president of patient services and chief nursing officer. "We are honored that our patients share their positive experiences through the surveys, which cover everything from cleanliness and quietness to communication and pain management. Providing an outstanding experience is one way we fulfill our mission to improve the quality of our patients' lives."
Healthgrades is an independent healthcare ratings organization. Hospitals cannot opt out of its analysis, and no hospital pays to be evaluated. Its website, Healthgrades.com, offers comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
"Today, more than ever before, consumers face decisions - and research their options - relating to where to obtain care, so factors like patient experience are increasingly important," said Evan Marks, Healthgrades chief strategy officer. "Consumers can have confidence that hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades 2015 Outstanding Patient Experience Award deliver a positive experience for the patient during their hospital stay."
In addition to receiving the Outstanding Patient Experience Award for five consecutive years, St. Luke's is the only hospital in St. Louis to be named one of America's 50 Best Hospitals™ by Healthgrades for consistent patient care excellence since the inception of the list (2007-2015). This analysis is based on survival and complication rates, and Healthgrades annually evaluates each of the nation's nearly 4,500 non-government hospitals that treat Medicare patients.
According to another 2015 Healthgrades report, St. Luke's is also recognized among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for cardiac services (2012-2015), pulmonary services (2003-2015), neurosurgery (2012-2015) and gastrointestinal medical treatment (2010-2015), and St. Luke's is a recipient of the Healthgrades Women's Health Excellence Award™ (2009-2014).
