Midwest Breast Care Center Designated an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
CHESTERFIELD, MO, June 7, 2011
- Midwest Breast Care Center, a St. Luke's Center for Diagnostic Imaging affiliated center, has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).
"Women choose Midwest Breast Care Center because we consistently meet their needs, providing quality breast imaging services and a commitment to breast health," said Karen Goodhope, MD, Midwest Breast Care Center chief radiologist. "This recognition as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence is a reflection of our commitment to providing the comprehensive services and accurate results that our physicians and patients expect and deserve."
To meet Breast Imaging Center of Excellence standards, peer-review evaluations are conducted in each method of breast imaging by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. These specialists determined that Midwest Breast Care Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
Midwest Breast Care Center has provided quality breast imaging services for the past 20 years in Creve Coeur. The center's dedicated, board-certified radiologists, Karen Goodhope, MD and Paula George, MD, have more than 40 years combined breast imaging experience. The center also offers breast care coordination by a certified nurse navigator, Becky Tackett, RN, BSN, CBPN-IC, who serves as an advocate, navigator and educator, supporting each stage of the breast health experience. Center services also include digital screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, cyst aspiration, consultations regarding outside breast imaging studies, and minimally invasive core needle biopsy by ultrasound and stereotactic guidance.
