Benefit Summary for Physicians

St. Luke's consistently receives recognition for our quality clinical outcomes and for being a best place to work in St. Louis. For full-time and benefit-eligible part-time physicians, St. Luke's offers a comprehensive compensation and benefit package. Following is a brief overview of some of our benefits. Coverage is upon hire or enrollment, unless noted otherwise.

Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage

Choice of two comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans provided for physician and eligible family members, including coverage for orthodontic care and glasses/contact lenses.

Pharmacy Benefits

Available for all physicians and eligible family members who elect medical coverage through St. Luke's. This benefit covers a portion of prescription medication costs at a discounted rate.

Life Insurance

After 90 days of employment, a base amount of life insurance is available. Physicians have the opportunity to purchase additional life insurance for themselves or for their eligible family members.

Long-Term Disability

Provides income support coverage in the event of a disability for full-time physicians after one year of service. Physicians also have the opportunity to purchase a higher level of disability support.

Short-Term Disability

Choice of two comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans provided for physician and eligible family members, including coverage for orthodontic care and glasses/contact lenses.

Flexible Spending Account

St. Luke's provides the opportunity to set aside income on a pre-tax basis to pay for qualified medical and dependent care expenses.

Pension Plan

After one year of eligibility, all physicians participate in St. Luke's retirement plan.

Matched Savings Plan

Physicians have the opportunity to contribute on a pre-tax basis to a 401(k) or 403(b) Plan. Additional contributions are made annually to the Plan for participating physicians.

457(b) Plan

Participants who have contributed the maximum amount in the Matched Savings Plan are eligible to contribute additional retirement savings on a pre-tax basis to this qualified savings plan.

Continuing Medical Education

Annual stipend for full-time physicians for travel, tuition and related expenses. Additionally, five days time off is provided to attend medical education courses.
 
In addition to these benefits, St. Luke's offers a variety of programs, discounts and special services including adoption assistance, legal assistance, long term care insurance, child care discounts, Fitness Center access, wellness programs and discounted tickets and events.
