College Student Program

Thank you for your interest in St. Luke’s Hospital College Student Volunteer Program. This program helps support patients, visitors, and staff while giving students a chance to experience the healthcare field through volunteering. Most students will serve in customer service or wayfinding roles.

The program runs Monday through Friday. Morning shifts are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and afternoon shifts are from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Each school semester lasts 13 weeks (September to December and January to April). Successful students may return for the next semester.  The minimum commitment is 48 service hours per semester.

Applications for the Fall semester are due by August 20th, and for the Spring semester by December 20th.

Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview to discuss the program and potential volunteer opportunities. If chosen, applicants will need to complete a clearance process before starting their volunteer work. The clearance process includes:

  • A urine drug test
  • A criminal background check (social security number needed)
  • A blood test to check for tuberculosis, measles, mumps, and rubella
  • A review of your immunization record
  • Proof of a current flu vaccine (or you must agree to get the vaccine)
