A Sweet Surprise: St. Luke's Nurse is a KMOV Surprise Squad Recipient (KMOV-TV)

Candy, an RN on Division 9600 at St. Luke's normally cares for neurosurgery patients. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, her floor was transformed into one of the designated COVID-19 units. That's the not the only way the pandemic has affected her life.

Recently engaged, Candy and her fiancé bought a house in 2019. They planned to get married in May and had to call off their wedding. Her fiancé was then temporarily out of work. 

After hearing her story, KMOV chose Candy as a Surprise Squad recipient. She did a Zoom interview — with the support of her colleagues — and Matt Chambers of KMOV shared how the generosity of her St. Luke's family created a first in Surprise Squad history.
