St. Luke's Ranks in the Top 10% of All US Hospitals by CMS

Receives 5 Stars for Overall Hospital Quality Ratings – 1 of only 9 in the state.

Chesterfield, MO., July 28, 2023 - CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) updated its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2023, giving only 483 out of 4,654 hospitals a rating of Five Stars. The Overall Star Rating provides consumers with a simple overall rating generated by combining multiple dimensions of quality into a single summary score.

The Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating (Overall Star Rating) summarizes a variety of measures across 5 areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. For each hospital, a hospital summary score is calculated by taking the weighted average of the hospital’s scores for each measure group. Hospitals are measured and results weighted in the following manner:

Mortality (22%); Safety (22%); Readmission (22%); Patient Experience (22%); and Timely & Effective Care (12%)

The overarching goal of the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating (Overall Star Rating) is to improve the usability and interpretability of information posted on Care Compare, a website designed for consumers to use along with their healthcare provider to make decisions on where to receive care. https://www.medicare.gov/care-compare/
