FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chesterfield, MO, MAY 10, 2022 – St. Luke’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital each received an ‘A’ Leapfrog Safety Grade for Spring 2022. This national distinction recognizes both hospitals’ achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error.
“Providing high quality, safe care is at the core of our mission,” said Gretchen Blake, St. Luke’s network vice president of quality, patient safety and medical staff affairs. “Achieving an “A” grade demonstrates our deep organizational and individual team member commitment to caring safely for the communities we serve.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
