St. Luke's Hospital Recognized for Outstanding Patient Experience by Healthgrades

The honor places St. Luke's among the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide for providing a superior patient experience.
St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield is a recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ by Healthgrades®. The designation places St. Luke’s among the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide based on an analysis of patient experience data. This is the ninth year in a row (2011-2019) St. Luke’s has received this award. 

“There is no greater compliment for a hospital than being recognized for how you care for your patients,” said Diane Ray, RN, FACHE, St. Luke’s senior vice president and network chief nursing officer. “We strive to exceed expectations by treating each person who walks through our door like family.”

Healthgrades evaluated the patient experience performance of almost 3,500 hospitals using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAPHS) patient survey data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering admissions from January 2017 through December 2017. 

The survey questions focus on patients’ perspectives of their care in the hospital. The topics of the questions range from cleanliness and quietness in patient rooms to communication with physicians and nurses. 

“These awards are driven directly by patients’ feedback, giving them a voice in helping to improve the hospital experience while also helping other consumers make more informed healthcare decisions,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Healthgrades chief medical officer. “We’re proud to recognize the hospitals around the country that receive the Outstanding Patient Experience Award for their commitment to providing exceptional patient experiences and always striving to put the patient first.”
