St. Luke's Hospital is a recipient of the Healthgrades 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. This distinction places St. Luke's among the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide based on an analysis of patient experience data. This is the seventh year in a row (2011-2017) that St. Luke's has received this award.
To determine its 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients, Healthgrades evaluated hospitals across the country that submitted patient surveys from April 2015 through March 2016 admissions to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Hospitals had to meet survey response size and clinical quality thresholds in order to be eligible for the award.
"This achievement is particularly meaningful because it is based on what our patients experience while they are being cared for in our hospital, including many factors such as cleanliness, quietness and responsiveness to their needs," said Diane Ray, RN, FACHE, St. Luke's Hospital vice president/chief nursing officer of patient services. "Providing a nationally-recognized experience for our patients year after year is one of the many ways we work to make a difference in the community."
Healthgrades is an independent healthcare ratings organization. Hospitals cannot opt out of its analysis, and no hospital pays to be evaluated. Its website, Healthgrades.com, offers information about hospitals and physicians.
"Patient experience and satisfaction metrics resonate with consumers as they evaluate hospitals and select where they want to receive care," said Brad Bowman, Healthgrades chief medical officer. "We commend those hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award for their commitment to delivering superior care experiences to patients during a hospital stay."
According to another Healthgrades report published last October, St. Luke's received 2017 Specialty Excellence Awards for the exceptional quality of its cardiac care, cardiac surgery, coronary intervention and general surgery. And according to the same national hospital quality study, St. Luke's also achieved five-star ratings for the quality of its stroke, pneumonia and respiratory failure treatment.
