A patient becomes eligible for hospice care when there is a physician prognosis of approximately six months or less if the disease follows its normal anticipated course, and when the patient is no longer seeking curative care. In cases where a longer period of time is needed, a patient can continue with hospice care as long as they still qualify for eligibility.
St. Luke's Hospice Services is certified by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. We are also a certified Medicare/Medicaid Hospice Provider. If eligible for hospice care, hospice services related to the life-limiting illness are covered by Medicare or Medicaid. Most private or commercial insurance plans offer hospice benefits.
